I was trying to make a love letters mix tape, where all the songs expressed how I had once felt while either in or out of love, but couldn’t round up enough songs to keep the mood consistent. I was trying to make a downtempo mix of songs that all had female vocalists, but once again found myself short on material I actually liked. Then it dawned on me, in both cases my concept criteria were too tight. And anyway, if one is going to make a mix tape for other people to listen to, one should only include songs that one actually really likes. So those two mixes morphed into this one mix. Here, the theme is simply a bunch of songs that I think are awesome, all of which feature a female vocalist.

Comments:

If you need a shoe-gazey, a cappella, all-chick, demise-of-this-relationship song, here’s one:

Building a Fire - The Evelyn Situation

The Evelyn Situation was my band from my college days. (I’m singing bottom.)

Lyrics here.

That is a pretty sweet song.
