Johnny Cashpoint sent me a demo version of It Was All Just a Polyencephalic Nightmare and then I sent him a demo version of my take on it. Imagine my version with a backing track that sounds like the one in J$’s version and you’ll have an idea of what the finished song will sound like.

I started having serious doubts about the lyrical direction the album was taking so I did an experiment where I wrote new lyrics for an existing song in a different style from the lyrics I already had. I then recorded the new lyrics with a full vocal arrangement to see if I’d like it better. Well, I didn’t, so I abandoned that idea and have continued on with what I have. I’ve discarded a couple unwritten songs because I don’t think they are going to be necessary and I’ve got lyrics and music for two new songs. This leaves only one song left that needs lyrics. In short, the album is wrapping itself up.

This one bears a little bit of explaining. A director I met through Kino wanted to make a film for a Kino screening in Manchester that told the story of a jealous lover. He had a story picked out, a traditional folk tale, which had already been set to music by at least two bluegrass artists. He wanted me to do my own version. So, I wrote a version with a slightly modern twist to the ending. The film has been finished and screened and Jamie wrote to say that it went over well. The song is also doing quite well on somesongs, though it has only been rated by nine people as of this post.

I finished the basic arrangement for In The Squib. It’s a Fruity Loops song and I’ve uploaded it for your listening pleasure. It will probably change somewhat when I get it into Sonar.

Came up with chords and a melody for In The Squib, will work on the arrangement tomorrow. Today I’m finally going to record the arrangement for We Are All Addicts, which has been finished in Sibelius for a long time.

Wrote the music for Homeostatic Coffee Pot. Turned out well. Hopefully Ken will eventually record live drums for it. That’d be pretty sweet.
