I’ve been stalling like mad on this project. I’ve talked to Johnny Cashpoint about helping out and he seems amenable to the idea. He has already offered some thoughts about the book and directions I could or could not go with my “adaptation” of the book. After quite a bit of thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that I do not want to attempt to strictly retell the narrative of the book. I think it will ultimately be more rewarding to highlight events that seem interesting and have the ideas or emotions in them fuel the lyrics for a song that is not specifically detailing the scene. I know, I know, I’m moving into “inspired by” territory here, which normally I’d recoil at the thought of, but it’s either that or write an album that closely resembles a musical. I simply don’t want to go in the direction of “A Maze Of Death: The Musical” for reasons that should be obvious. I think it would be fun to do a musical based on a PKD story at some point, but now is not that time. That said, the one song that I’ve actually managed to make a full demo of, Delmak-O, will either not appear on the album or will be severely revised. I hope this doesn’t upset any of you. I haven’t been getting any e-mail inquiring after the progress of this thing, so I assume that there isn’t actually anyone terribly invested in the outcome. Donc, je vous donne une nouvelle chanson:
