As promised, I recorded the demo version of “Delmak-O” today. The vocal was recorded in one of our closets. I think this particular closet is going to work well as a make-shift isolation booth. My singing is not as great as I’d like, but I’m a bit out of practice from all of that lounging around the hotel. I also finished composing the music for “Simple Communication” today.

On the way home yesterday I thought of how I wanted the album to begin. So, when I got home I pieced it together. For those of you keeping track, it contains the string opening from “Dan Dare” by Art of Noise, the drum beat from “One Hit Wonder” by Everclear, and the legendary tom break from “In The Air” by Phil Collins. After putting together the intro I worked out the chords and revised the lyrics a bit. Today I sequenced the song. It’s not quite finished yet, but quite close. Terribly exciting, hey?

I went out on the deck again and wrote some lyrics for “Give Me The Gun”. The song relates the scene in chapter 11 where the group gets back from the tench and find out that Belsnor has shot Tony. Morely goes and gets it but then as they argue about whether Glen should have it back or not Thugg manages to gain possession of it. Maggie Walsh approaches him, reading from The Book, in an attempt to get the gun from him but he shoots her when she gets too close. Her death vision will be an instrumental called “Todestraum”. Someday I might actually start writing the music to go along with the lyrics I’m writing. For some reason it feels like I should finish all of the lyrics first, but of course that’s really not necessary.
